Questions

Questions, answered plainly.

KINVA is a different way of using AI, so it is reasonable to have questions before you begin.

Here is what to expect from the match, the conversation, your information, and the product itself.

Getting Started

What is KINVA?

KINVA is an AI thought-partner system designed to help you think things through.

You begin with a short matching experience and are paired with one of seven thought partners. Each partner has a different cognitive and conversational approach, but they share the same goal: helping you reach clarity you recognize as your own.

Who is KINVA for?

KINVA is for people who want somewhere to examine a thought without immediately being handed an answer.

That includes people working through decisions, relationships, career questions, ideas, plans, recurring patterns, creative problems, or questions about what they want.

You do not have to feel confused, overwhelmed, or emotionally stuck. KINVA can also be useful when you already think clearly but want structure, challenge, perspective, or a compatible way to work through something.

What can I bring to a conversation?

Anything that needs more than a quick answer.

You might bring:

  • A decision with no obvious right choice
  • An idea that needs more shape
  • A conversation you are preparing for
  • A pattern you keep noticing
  • A strategic or creative problem
  • Something that feels unsettled
  • A question you are not ready to resolve

There is no required format and no single right way to begin.

Matching

How does matching work?

The matching experience includes eleven questions: ten quick choices and an optional note about what would be useful right now. It takes about five minutes.

Your answers show patterns in how you tend to process and the kinds of responses that help your thinking move. KINVA uses that picture to select the thought partner whose first move is most compatible.

You will see an explanation of why you were matched.

Is the match a personality test?

No. Your match is not a diagnosis, identity, or fixed statement about who you are.

It reflects both patterns in how you tend to process and what appears useful at the time you complete the survey. It is a starting point for the conversation, not a permanent label.

What are the seven thought partners?

KINVA’s current thought partners are:

  • The Architect: Structure and clarity
  • The Anchor: Grounding and steadiness
  • The Spark: Momentum and energy
  • The Visionary: Direction and possibility
  • The Explorer: Curiosity and discovery
  • The Empath: Emotional clarity
  • The Sage: Depth and inquiry

They are not simply different personalities. Each uses a distinct cognitive and conversational approach.

Can I switch thought partners?

Yes. You can try another thought partner whenever a different approach fits the thought better.

Switching partners does not delete your existing conversation history.

Conversations

How is KINVA different from a general AI assistant?

General-purpose AI is useful when you need an answer, draft, explanation, or task completed.

KINVA is designed for moments when the thinking itself matters. It combines cognitive matching with a conversation architecture that may ask a question, reflect a pattern, offer structure, slow the pace, or introduce useful challenge.

The goal is not to produce the most impressive answer. It is to help you participate more fully in reaching your own conclusion.

Will KINVA give me advice?

KINVA may offer perspective, structure, options, or a possible next step when that is useful. It is designed not to make decisions for you or present itself as the authority on your life.

For a quick factual answer or direct task, a general AI tool may be more appropriate.

How long is a conversation?

There is no required session length.

Some thoughts may become clearer after a few exchanges. Others may need more time or several conversations. KINVA is designed to allow natural endings rather than keep a conversation going unnecessarily.

Does KINVA remember previous conversations?

KINVA stores your conversation history so you can return to it.

It can also use summaries and recurring themes to support continuity across sessions. KINVA may help you notice what your mind keeps returning to, but it should not decide what those themes mean for you.

Can I talk instead of type?

Yes. You can type or use voice input.

When you use voice input, the recording is sent to a speech provider for transcription. KINVA does not store the audio recording. You can also play a thought partner’s response aloud.

See the Privacy Policy for more information about voice processing.

Privacy & Safety

Are my conversations private?

KINVA does not sell your personal information, share your conversations with advertisers, or use your conversations to train AI models.

Messages are stored so you can return to them and see themes over time. Service providers process limited information to operate KINVA, including generating AI responses, storing data, hosting the service, and transcribing voice input.

The Privacy Policy explains these practices in detail.

Does a person read my conversations?

KINVA conversations are not monitored in real time, and we do not routinely read them.

Authorized access may occur when you request support, report a problem, provide permission, or when access is necessary to investigate security, abuse, technical failures, or legal requirements.

Is KINVA therapy?

No. KINVA is a nonclinical thinking tool.

It does not diagnose, treat, or provide mental-health care. Thought partners are AI, not therapists or people, and KINVA is not a substitute for qualified professional or human support.

Can I use KINVA during a crisis?

No. KINVA is not a crisis service and cannot provide emergency assistance.

Automated safeguards are designed to notice some crisis-related language and may interrupt the usual conversation to provide resources. Those systems are imperfect and should not be relied upon to identify an emergency.

If you may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the United States, call or text 988 or text HOME or HOLA to 741741.

See Safety at KINVA for more information.

Access & Accounts

Is KINVA free?

KINVA is currently free during early access.

If paid features are introduced, KINVA will explain the price and applicable terms before charging you.

You can add it to your home screen for easier access:

  • On iPhone, open KINVA in Safari and choose Add to Home Screen

Deleting your account removes its data from KINVA as described in the Privacy Policy. Privacy requests can be sent to alex@mykinva.com.

Still wondering?
