Privacy at KINVA
Last updated: August 18, 2026
Your conversations can contain personal thoughts, decisions, and experiences. KINVA is designed to treat that information with care and to explain plainly how it is used.
The Short Version
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your conversations with advertisers.
- We do not use your conversations to train AI models.
- We store conversations so you can return to them and see themes over time.
- Our service providers process limited information to operate KINVA.
- You can access, export, or delete your information.
Privacy does not mean that no technology provider processes your conversations. KINVA uses Anthropic’s Claude API to generate responses, along with providers for storage, hosting, and email. Those relationships are explained below.
Information We Collect
Account information Your name, email address, authentication information, account preferences, and records of the confirmations and acknowledgments you give, and when.
Matching information Your responses to the matching survey, your resulting processing profile, and your current thought-partner selection.
Conversation information Messages you send, responses generated by your thought partner, conversation history, and any summaries or themes created to support continuity across sessions. If you use voice input, KINVA records audio and transmits it for transcription into text.
Safety information KINVA automatically screens messages for indications of crisis so it can respond appropriately. We keep a record that this occurred.
Product and device information Information such as browser type, device type, timestamps, pages or features used, and technical error information.
Support and communication information Messages you send to KINVA, support requests, feedback, and email preferences.
KINVA does not require medical information. Because conversations are open-ended, you may choose to share personal or sensitive information. Please use your judgment about what you include.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Match you with a thought partner
- Generate and save conversations
- Preserve continuity across sessions
- Surface recurring themes without deciding what they mean
- Maintain safety, security, and product reliability
- Respond to support requests
- Understand aggregate product usage
- Send account and service communications
KINVA does not use conversation content to target advertising or build advertising profiles.
AI Processing
When you send a message, KINVA sends the conversation context needed to generate a response to Anthropic’s Claude API.
If you use voice input, KINVA sends your recording to a speech provider for transcription. If you play a reply aloud, KINVA sends that reply’s text to a speech provider to generate audio. Neither the recording nor the audio is stored by KINVA.
Anthropic states that inputs and outputs submitted through its commercial API are not used to train its models by default. Under its standard policy, Anthropic generally deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, subject to limited exceptions such as legal requirements and usage-policy enforcement.
KINVA does not opt your conversations into model training.
Human Access
KINVA conversations are not monitored in real time, and we do not routinely read them.
Authorized access may occur when:
- You ask for help or report a problem
- Access is necessary to investigate security, abuse, or technical failures
- KINVA is legally required to preserve or disclose information
- You provide specific permission
Access is limited to what is necessary for the situation.
If you are in crisis, see Safety for resources.
Retention and Deletion
Account and conversation data remain available while your account is active.
Deleting your account removes its data immediately, as part of the request. KINVA does not maintain database backups, so deleted information is not retained in backup copies. Technical and security logs are retained for approximately one hour.
Anthropic may retain API inputs and outputs under the standard policy described above.
Security
KINVA and its service providers use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest, authentication, access controls, and security monitoring.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. Please use judgment about the information you choose to include in a conversation.
Your Choices
